First, a huge thank you to (right to left) Tess Greene, Maddy Murphy, Morgan Prytherch, Lexie Greenberg, Audrey Eismann, (me), Cassidy Sandry, Caroline Lamport, Mike Illiano, and Zac Heffner for the use of your beautiful faces on my blog!

Throughout England's history, many castles have been built and have fallen- buried within the sands of time. Some of those ruins remain, bringing to life the grandeur in which lords and ladies used to live in. Built in 1120, Kenilworth Castle has an almost 900 year history, and has been expanded twice, once in the 13th century and once in the 14th century. In 1649, Parliament partially destroyed it to stop enemy forces from using it as a military stronghold.

Today, the gorgeous castle ruins are open to the public, with a charge of almost 11 pounds to enter, which is completely worth it. On site, there is a cafe and a gift shop featuring unique items such as embroidery and local wines and mead. There are 4 main ruin sites that tourists can enter, three are part of the main castle complex and the other is the stables. Behind the castle kitchen area, there is a gorgeous, extensive garden with a large variety of blooms for guests to explore. The higher up you get in the ruins, the better the view of the english countryside gets. If you go into Kenilworth Castle with a sense of adventure (always go up and down any stairs you can find), I promise you will find that these old ruins may just be one of the highlights of your trip to England!

About Me

Hi, I'm Erika!

As a junior in college, I have been to 26 countries on 6 of the 7 continents and have plans to go wherever I can. I'll post about anything that strikes me on my adventures- both past and present.

All pictures used are my own original photography (unless noted otherwise).

In addition to traveling, I enjoy cuddling with my dog, Boomer, collecting carnival glass, and curling up with a blanket and a good book.
