When you are in Sydney, Australia, one of the biggest attractions is the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb. When I went, I was offered the option to do it for around $250 USD (which was much more money than I wanted to pay). For some people, doing the bridge climb is a personal goal- and I say go for it!- but for others, it isn't necessarily the highlight of going to Sydney. For those who don't want to pay to do the official bridge climb, there is another option, which still allows you to get incredible views of the harbor.
If you go to the base of the bridge, on either side there are 2 towers that tourists are allowed to climb up to the top of. The top of these towers are almost level with the middle point of the bridge, and the best part is that it costs less than 5 Australian Dollars to go up! There are a lot of stairs though, so if you are trying to climb quickly, it is not for the faint of heart. This picture was taken just before sunset, in the time called the Golden Hour (as you can see, the entire harbor looks bathed in gold light). Myself and 3 friends climbed up the stairs and got this amazing view before watching the sun set over Sydney Harbor. Although I did not pay for the bridge climb, I did not feel as though I missed out, simply because I was able to climb up the tower.
I urge anyone in Sydney who wants to see the amazing view of Sydney Harbor from above, but doesn't want to pay for the bridge climb, to put in the effort and climb to the top of the bridge towers.
