Relaxing in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia

Everyone feels it. You're in a new time zone, you've been walking around a foreign city for hours (where probably not many people speak English), and you just feel like crud in general. Nothing sounds better to you then to get off your feet and relax. In many places in Asia, specifically in Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia, the perfect way to do that is to get a massage!

Many massage parlors in these countries have trained practitioners who know just how to help you relax through reflexology and acupressure. They use traditional Thai massage techniques, which dig into the muscle, forcing it to release tension and become looser, relaxing your body from the inside out. If you do not like "hard" pressure, you can certainly opt for the "lighter" Swedish massage or aromatherapy massage. The best part about getting a massage there is how cheap it is! Haggling is perfectly acceptable, so an already cheap price can come down even further. In Vietnam, I paid 10 dollars (not including tip) for a 45 minute massage. In Cambodia, it was slightly cheaper (a haggled price of 12 dollars for an hour and a half), and in Thailand it was slightly more expensive (9 dollars for 30 minutes). These prices are nothing compared to massages in the United States, where practitioners can charge upwards of 45 dollars an hour, so if you find yourself in this part of Asia, get the good deals while you can!

About Me

Hi, I'm Erika!

As a junior in college, I have been to 26 countries on 6 of the 7 continents and have plans to go wherever I can. I'll post about anything that strikes me on my adventures- both past and present.

All pictures used are my own original photography (unless noted otherwise).

In addition to traveling, I enjoy cuddling with my dog, Boomer, collecting carnival glass, and curling up with a blanket and a good book.
